When you sit down with me (Gerry Schofield) for a careers
interview, I first want to find out more about you. Your
likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, career ideas
(if you have any) etc, the subjects you like and dislike,
the qualifications you have and those you hope to achieve.
Also I want to know about your hobbies and sports and
something about your personality.
Why do I want all this information? The answer is simple.
Between us we want to find a solution to your career
related problems. I see it as a partnership, you give
me information about yourself and in exchange; I offer
you guidance.
I do appreciate that if we were to meet in the future,
it could be the first time you have sat down with a
stranger and talked at length about yourself. I am very
good at making you feel relaxed about the whole process,
so that you enjoy it and get some benefit from it.
